Introduction

Our township is celebrating it's 200th anniversary this year. Imagine how the township looked in those beginning years. A winding river and connecting streams lined with an abundance of trees and forests, meadows covered with wild flowers, rolling countryside with farms scattered across the landscape and plenty of wildlife living throughout.

Things certainly have changed over the years but many of the key scenic assets visible throughout the township 200 years ago are still visible today. Due to continued growth some of these assets are in jeopardy of being lost forever.

In  2001 the Sugarcreek Township Trustees adopted a new "Comprehensive Land Use Plan". A part of the plan was the creation of an Open Space Advisory Committee. It is the goal of the Committee to preserve some of the beautiful scenic qualities and protect key open space assets.
