Criteria for Open Space
The following acquisition criteria was developed, but is not
limited to the following concepts:
- Scenic / Visual Qualities
Protection of water sources
- Protection of woodlands, farmlands, endangered plant, animals
and/or lands that contain potential ecosystems for educational or
scientific value.
- Preserving of the Township goals
- Buffering zones
- Geographic balance of open space within the Township
- Linkage to surrounding green areas
The Plan Goals Are:
- Retain rural character of the Township
- Manage the pace and quality of future development
- Protect key assets
- Retain viable agriculture land usage
- Provide viable and continuing strategy for preserving open space
- Manage transportation demands and conflicts
- Provide criteria and guidance for the future infrastructure
- Provide protection of important environmental resources
- Plan for recreational areas
- Protect the geographic integrity
There are several sources of funding available for land
acquisition:
- State Agency grants
- Groups such as Little Miami Incorporated and the Tecumseh Land
Trust.
- Donations of property
- Possible minimal tax levy
- Donations of development rights
- The committee would also like to work in cooperation with the
Bellbrook/Sugarcreek Park District.
